Cy Twombly was a great influence upon many artists/painters (Basquiat, Schnabel, and more). Twombly occupied a unique space between his contemporary Expressionists (of the NY School) and Pop. He defied stylistic name as his Art is a continuum of the poets of Greece and art of Lascaux.
Rudolf Zwirner is a German art dealer and gallerist, and Father to David Zwirner (NYC Gallerist). The Elder Zwirner co-founded Art Köln in 1967 and brought POP Art viaJim Dine, Andy Warhol, and Roy Lichtenstein in the late 1960s to a German market. I do present a foto of Zwirner with Sigmar Polke c.1969 for context.
