RARE !!!This is the first volume of Kippenberger's trilogy Hotel-Hotel, Hotel-Hotel-Hotel and No Drawing No Cry. The books each consist of collections of drawings Kippenberger made on stationary from hotels around the world. Kippenberger made hundreds of drawings on hotel stationery, a body of work that comes across as a kind of travel diary. Although he often lived in hotels for weeks or even months, he didn't stay at all the hotels whose notepaper he used, often picking it up from other sources. The stationery became, like so many things he encountered, a readymade material for his art. One of an edition of 950, this one is numbered 490.

No Drawing No Cry is the third and final volume in Kippenberger's edition of "Hotel" drawings, following Hotel Hotel and Hotel Hotel Hotel both of which were published in 1992 and quickly sold out and are highly sought after just as No Drawing No Cry is. Whereas the previous two volumes featured drawings done by Kippenberger on Hotel stationery from all over the world, No Drawing No Cry presents only blank stationery of the hotels where Kippenberger stayed. This edition published posthumously completes the witty and significant "Hotel" project just as the artist had planned it during his lifetime. No Drawing No Cry is essential to Kippenberger's oeuvre and is a must for any collector of His or artist books in general.
